    Time Event
    2:29p
    A brief respite...
As time ticks down, our hero attempts to relax on the last weekend prior to the defense. The beer appears ready to bottle, despite its demand of extra time in the fermenter (hopefully this isn't due to an infection of wild yeast or something nasty like that). The talk, for my defense, is mostly written, and I've asked some colleagues (other than my advisor, who will not see it unless he asks) to have a look at it, especially with an eye toward BREVITY. Currently, I am assuming that the talk itself should be around an hour, with an additional half hour for questions. The talk itself, without backup slides, clocks in at around 95 slides (132 with backups). Arg.

Anyway, no real thought to put to that this weekend. Need this time to stay human, try to stabilize a bit before I go on trial. Currently engaging in my standard week of sobriety prior to a big challenge, which means no drinky for me. That should be the victory dance.

I swear, I should be more interesting after this is over. At worst, I'll have other things to talk about. Speaking of other things to talk about, yesterday Angela and I went in Halloween regalia to work. She was in renaissance attire, and I went as the urban legend I keep trying to promote, the jogger who is hideously maimed by a Canada goose. I will provide pictures at some point, if only to show you the spectacle of having a goose head protrude out my sternum, and the little feet and tail sticking out of my lower back.
