Yarg. Beatings will continue...
Got thwarted yesterday in an attempt to update my journal. Here's another try.
Wednesday I had lunch with DM. He's on his way back to Houston now, after hearing my dubious wisdom on graduate school. Whether or not he'll take any of the advice I gave him (or if he should) remains to be seen. One interesting tidbit is that I told him that if I had it to do over again, I would. I seem to be in the habit of surprising myself when I answer people's questions.
Friday I spent slogging my way through the propagation of systematic errors for my cross section. After an eye-bleeding day of staring at spreadsheets, I produce the number and send it out, and promptly get bitched at by my boss. Yay. Isn't graduate school wonderful?
Hopefully thesis revisions this weekend so that I can see about self-promotion on Monday (in search of a job, part 1).

There's some stuff I'd very much like to say about being clever in physics, though I can't say that I have ever been clever myself. In general though, it is a mistake. Why? Because in my experience most people aren't as clever as they think they are. Then in their analyses, their reach exceeds their grasp, and you end up discovering (insert physics-of-the-week here). Meanwhile, I try to be careful, and not fly off the handle, and get lectured to. See my previous comment about graduate school.
