Whose eyes am I behind?
I don't know who showed up for work yesterday, but it sure as hell wasn't me. Whoever that guy was, he fucking cranked out more numbers and code than I have seen in the last month. Its a shame I showed up today instead of him. Blah. I need that guy back in the office. Today, things just seem impossible.
Version 2 of the thesis is completely in now (half arrived Monday, half today). The half that arrived this morning had surprisingly little red ink, which means I'm gonna fuck that up once I go ahead and finalize the plots that go into it, along with all the numbers that appeared yesterday. Preliminary cross section calculations look good, that also apparently happened yesterday. Gee whiz, this is dangerously close to done. I wonder what will ruin it?
The laptop mystery continues. It exhibits a bizzare behavior, spontaneous lockup which seems to come some minutes after coming out of hibernation. But I can neither reproduce it, nor correlate it to anything going on in the system at the time. My guess would be that the hard drive (which is known to be on its way out) fails to recover a page or two from memory after hibernation, and we get some sort of fatal memory access error once that location is used. But, like I said, it isn't reproducible.
The weather, is very strange. Our highs are in the 60s today, even though its AUGUST. Strange, even by IL standards.
