It seems to be THAT time of the year again.
Occasionally around here we do physics. That is not what this entry is about.
What this entry IS about is the upcoming Spokesperson Elections. Herding physicists may be like herding cats, but at the same time, SOMEONE has to go to bat for the experiment. There has to be a (and I stress) nominal leader (or leaders, of course we can't merely have one). Debate within the Rice group (holy shit! we have a group! When the fuck did that happen?) on who the institutional nomination should go to began yesterday, which basically involved Pedrame and I going through the photo gallery and looking at names.
P: What about X?
A: X knows his stuff, but at the same time we can't get him elected.
P: Why?
A: Requires at least NOMINAL diplomacy skills. Also you have to be old enough.
P: Is there an age requirement?
A: Implicitly. You wouldn't elect say, ME to be spokesperson.
P: Yes, but that brings us back to the whole 'diplomacy' thing.
At any rate, I'm certain this election will shape up to be almost as uninteresting as last year, unless I can find some photos that destroy candidates.
In other news, Angela is on the owl shift this week, meaning she's asleep when I'm at home, she's at work when I'm asleep, etc. Arg.
