    Time Event
    3:44p
    More days in the life.
For someone attempting to redo most of a fairly complicated analysis, I'm surprisingly upbeat today. It can probably be attributed to the fact that I enjoy actually measuring and calculating things more than writing about them, or answering the latest in a series of obstinate questions about technical documents.
At any rate, midnight tonight will be the deadline for comments from my 700 closest friends (the collaboration comments on the conference paper). And then somehow a miracle happens and we're approved. Yippee. Going to be a tough few months coming up here, next week is the DOE review, and then a month hence, or less, I make tracks for Madison, and later Denver. Yarg. I'm going to go back to having Fridays at LEAST be writing days, this time on the thesis itself.
This weekend I return to the DM chair, after a fair sized hiatus. It'll be nice to be right by default for a little while. My first, somewhat contrived, Call of Cthulu d20 game, done in a convention style (pregenerated characters, one session game). Here's hoping.

Conversation snippet/Hate it when that happens.
Pedram: I have a muon question for you.
Andrew: Ok. I'm working with muons today, go ahead and ask.
Pedram: I just saw an email from the Top people. They just released a new version of their stuff, some things changed for the Monte Carlo, including this Muon Scale. Do you know what Muon Scale is?
Andrew: My first guess would be the crusty stuff that builds up on the outside of the toroid.
Pedram: ... (sound of crickets chirping, owls hooting...)
Andrew: Hell, you don't know what's funny.
